Jill Matthews – Barber / Owner
Along with co-founding The CUT Barbershop in March 2009, Jill has ten years experience in opening, managing, and growing a steady client base for the “barbershop” clientele, specializing in men’s hair.
Jill has also earned a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in Design from AIU-Los Angeles. Designing a unique environment for the male hair industry was just the beginning of this business venture. Jill also wanted to create an atmosphere where everyone had a blast, not just the customers – but the professional barbers and stylists too. When Jill is not Rockin’ out at The CUT you will find her soaking up rays on one of the Carolina’s beaches or lakes. Jill is extremely proud to call Charlotte home!!!

Stephanie S – Stylist
I have been a licensed cosmetologist for over 7 years. While attending school I worked as a bartender here in Charlotte and did platform work for a couple of salons. I am extremely passionate about being a stylist and keeping up with the ever changing men’s hair cut trends.
I am proud to say I have called Charlotte home for over 20 years!

Mandy S – Stylist
I have been doing men’s hair for over 8 years now and I really love making people look their best.
I LOVE working at The CUT. The upbeat environment and my extremely talented co-workers sure make my job fun. And isn’t getting paid to have fun the perfect place to work?
When I am not at The CUT I enjoy spending time with my dogs, friends, and family.

Managing The CUT Barbershop team is a job I love. Working with a talented and fun team makes coming to work every day a pleasure!
When I am not at The CUT, I really enjoy spending time with my husband and visiting my family in Tennessee.
Nicole – Stylist
Nicole Peskin is a Charlotte native and has been in the hair industry for 11 years.
Training under top stylists during her growth as a stylist, has made her who she is today. She enjoys helping clients with their hair needs and has persistence on giving an outstanding haircut every time.
She has worked around the Charlotte area in salons and traveled with photographer’s doing hair & makeup on sets for 7 years in her career. Her time working with a photographer opened doors to new opportunities involving in modeling and acting around Charlotte.
You may have seen her on the movie “Leather Heads”, commercials, or participating in fashion shows. In her free time she takes her creative side home and paints on canvases as a hobby. If you were to ask her about her favorite band- The group 311 is always playing on her IPOD.

John Matthews – Co-Founder
Prior to Co-Founding The CUT Barbershop in March 2009, John was the Chief Financial Officer of Palmyra Capital Advisers a SEC registered investment adviser to three hedge funds.
John has degrees from Michigan State University and Clemson University. While at Clemson , John really enjoyed the Carolina lifestyle and knew he wanted to eventually make it back. Creating Uptown Charlotte’s best Barbershop seemed to be the perfect opportunity.
John really wanted to help design a modern barbershop but at the same time bring back the local hang-out appeal the barbershop lost. When John is not relaxing at his favorite barbershop enjoying a beer and the football game, he is probably at one of Charlotte’s great restaurants or sporting venues.

After leaving Charlotte 7 years ago to move to Orlando, FL, I am now back in the city where I grew up and love!
I went to Cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell the school Orlando. I take every chance I can to further my education to keep up with the latest trends. Hair cutting and color are my passions and I love making others feel great about themselves. 
In my spare time, I LOVE to travel and attend any kind of sporting events, concerts, outdoor activities, going out with friends and family…. I just enjoy life to its fullest!
At THE CUT I am able to have fun while doing what I love and meeting awesome people!

Born and raised in Charlotte, NC I have been doing hair for 8 years. I specialize in men hair and certified to do razor cuts as well! I am currently a part time student pursuing my Associates in Nursing. When I’m not at work or school I enjoy laying out by the pool, reading a good book and spending time with family
